Training for librarians on information and media literacy, held in Thessaloniki

25 librarians from Bulgaria, Greece, Latvia, Portugal and Romania – key trainers in the NEDLib project, funded by the EC’s Erasmus+ programme – participated, between 27 and 31 January 2025, in а training on information and media literacy/ The training was a first in a series of a few to follow within the NEDLib project. It was held in Thessaloniki and organised by the International Hellenic University, which together with the GLBF, NLL, DGLAB, ANBPR and ULSIT are the main partners behind the implementation of the project.

On behalf of Global Libraries – Bulgaria, in the training in Thessaloniki were participating: 3 librarians from the regional libraries in Dobrich, Plovdiv and Silistra, one from the “Penyo Penev” city library in Dimitrovgrad and one from the “Hristo Botev-1928” community library in the village of Botevo, Yambol region.

The theoretical training in information and media literacy was complemented by a visit to the public library of Thessaloniki and a cultural tour of the city. Getting to know the food, cultural landmarks and national traditions of Greece left unforgettable impressions on the participants and showed that in the EU we share common values ​​and work to preserve them.

We look forward to the next group of key librarians from Portugal, Latvia, Romania, Greece and Bulgaria, who will be trained again within the framework of the NEDLib project, during the period 24-28 February 2025 at the University of Library Science and Information Technology, in Sofia.
