Summary:
The project aims to put in the hands of librarians and information specialists an educational tool in the field of information and media literacy to be used by them in working with citizens and users of their institutions.

The Global Libraries Foundation – Bulgaria is a partner in the project NEDLib: Digital competence and information literacy for librarians, financed by the Erasmus + program of the European Commission.

The project aims to put in the hands of librarians and information specialists an educational tool in the field of information and media literacy to be used by them in working with citizens and users of their institutions. Today, in the conditions of post-covid and military conflict on the territory of Europe, the problem of the spread of unreliable content is more than exacerbated due to an unsatisfactory level of information skills.

Within the framework of project implementation, the main activities are aimed at:

1. Development of educational content (theoretical and practical part) – by the universities in Sofia and Thessaloniki – in 4 key areas:

  • Information literacy
  • Media literacy
  • Misinformation, propaganda and fake news
  • Gamification in libraries

2. Designation of 5 training centers in libraries in each partner country.

3. Selection of 10 key trainer librarians to be trainers of other adult trainers thereafter.

As a result of the project collaboration, educational content will be created that will be freely available  for use by a wide range of stakeholders: teachers, librarians, citizens, students, journalists and media professionals. The online platform will also include specially designed practical tasks that are based on the application of new learning approaches to lifelong learning.

The project NEDLib: Digital competence and information literacy for librarians has a duration of 3 years and will be implemented in partnership with: University of Library Studies and Information Technologies (ULSIT) – Bulgaria (coordinator); International Hellenic University (IHU); National Library of Latvia – Latvia; The National Association of Public Librarians and Libraries in Romania (ANBPR); Directorate of Books, Archives and Libraries – Portugal

The project is supported financially by the Erasmus+ program
