Lyuben Karavelov Regional Library in Ruse hosted a national information event On 29 June 2026 about the NEDLib project. The event was organised by the Global Libraries Bulgaria Foundation, the local project coordinator.
The purpose of the project is to enhance information and media literacy trainings in libraries, specifically to provide librarians and information specialists with an information and media literacy educational tool to use in their work with the local community. Ruse Regional Library was chosen as one of the project specialist centres. The event presented the project goals, objectives and results: training modules developed for librarians and library users, and an e-platform containing free materials for use by students, specialists, teachers and any other interested parties from the field of digital and information competences. The Ruse librarians shared their experiences of the project activities – the international summer schools, and implementation of trainings for chitalishte librarians and members of the public.
The event was attended by librarians from regional libraries and chitalishta (community libraries) from the Central and Northeastern regions of Bulgaria.
NEDLib: Digital Skills and Information Literacy for Librarians is funded by the Erasmus Programme of the European Commission and is implemented by a consortium of six partners from five countries (Bulgaria, Greece, Latvia, Portugal and Romania) and coordinated by the University of Library Studies and Information Technologies.
