Awards

The Global Libraries – Bulgaria Foundation Awards were established in 2017 in fulfillment of its mission and goals to support the inclusion of Bulgarians in the information society and ensure equal access to information, culture, knowledge and services through the network of public libraries in the country.

The prizes are awarded annually on a competitive basis in the following categories:

  • For media, in two subcategories:
    – national media
    – regional media
  • For a confederate
  • For a public institution

The laureates are selected on a competitive basis by a jury, after a preliminary collection of nominations, the conditions for which the Foundation announces publicly on its website and in an information campaign.

The awards are presented at a special event during the annual GLBF National Forum.

The sign of the award, presented in the period 2017-2023, is a stylized plastic image made by the artist Pavel Bozheryanov. Awards have no material expression other than their artistic sign.

At a solemn ceremony, on November 13, 2023, at the TOPLOCENTRALA Regional Center for Contemporary Arts, the 7th annual awards of the Global Libraries – Bulgaria Foundation were presented – for achievements during the annual period from the beginning of the month of October 2022 to the end of the month of September 2023.

The winners of the Annual Awards of the “Global Libraries – Bulgaria” Foundation in 2023 are:
Award for a National Media: Children’s Books / Detskiknigi.com
Award for a Regional Media: BTA – Varna
Award for a Confederate, under the name of Snezhana Yaneva: Greenwich Book Center
Award for a Public Institution: Municipality of Vratsa

The awards of the “Global Libraries – Bulgaria” Foundation were established in fulfillment of the foundation’s goals of supporting the inclusion of Bulgarian citizens in the information society and ensuring equal access to information, culture, knowledge and services through the network of public libraries in Bulgaria. The winners of the awards are determined by a Commission composed of Prof. Georgi Lozanov (Chairman), Prof. Vladimir Atanasov, Snezhana Joveva, Georgi Konstantinov and Spaska Tarandova.
