On 24 and 25 October, the 12th National Conference on Global Education was held on the theme of Health Education: For Every Child, Every School, Every Community. The conference was organised by the Bulgarian Platform for International Development, Doctors of the World – Bulgaria, and Burgas Municipality. Participants included field experts, teachers, health mediators, and representatives from institutions and organisations.
Gergana Hrishcheva, health journalist and recipient of the Global Libraries Bulgaria Foundation National Media Award, spoke at the Digital Health and Information Technologies session, presenting findings from her podcast series “At the Centre of the System.” Special attention was drawn to the role of Bulgarian National Radio, and the range of audio and video podcasts from its Digital Programmes Directorate, as a reliable source of verifiable health information.
The conference aimed to:
- Present the current state of health education in Bulgaria
- Analyse the relationship between health literacy and public health indicators
- Promote good practices from schools and non-formal environments
- Encourage the use of digital solutions in health education
Outline practical and political paths towards sustainable solutions and discuss the role of health education to improve public health.
