Global Libraries – Bulgaria Foundation is launching a new 10-month project co-financed by the Public Diplomacy Section of the United States Embassy in Sofia. The “Be Aware of What You Share” project aims to promote media literacy among young people (15-19 years old) and adults in Bulgaria, using public libraries as centres of information and training. The pilot for this project will be implemented through the American Corners in Sofia Metropolitan Library and the Pencho Slaveykov Regional Library in Varna and will also involve local schools. The project will enhance the skills and knowledge base of librarians, and support media literacy, critical thinking and resilience against misinformation and disinformation in Bulgarian society.
During the trainings in the pilot project, participants will explore the nature of the content they come across on social media and the context within which this content is published. Trainings will be interactive, and tailored to the different ways of learning among children and adults.
Funding provided by the United States Government
