The Global Libraries Bulgaria Foundation is launching a call for nominations for nominations for the 10th Annual Global Libraries Awards, which will be presented on 17 November 2026 as part of the Libraries Today National Forum.
The awards were established to advance GLBF’s mission and goals to foster the inclusion of Bulgarian citizens into the information society, and to ensure equal access to information, culture, knowledge and services through the country’s network of public libraries.
The award itself is a sculpture with no material value beyond its artistic form.

SUBMISSION PERIOD
- Nominations can be submitted from 1 – 31 October
WHO CAN NOMINATE
- Libraries from across the country (regional, chitalishte, city, municipal, etc.) may submit and unlimited number of nominations for each of the four award categories.
NOMINATION REQUIREMENTS
- Nominations must be made in accordance with the Awards regulations, and a standard form completed for each nomination: DOWNLOAD THE FORM HERE

- Nominations will be accepted for achievements made during the period from the beginning of October 2025 to the end of September 2026
AWARDS
The winners will be selected through a competitive process by a fine-member jury. They will be presented at a special ceremony on 17 November 2026 as part of the National Forum.
NOMINATION GUIDELINES BY CATEGORY [heading 6, bold]
The Media Award in each of the two subcategories is given to media outlets that have highlighted and explored topics related to the issues, challenges, and opportunities concerning the development of public libraries and to the creation of conditions for citizens to enjoy free and equal access to information, culture, knowledge and services through libraries.
The Snezhana Yaneva Supporter Award is presented for philanthropic activities that support a campaign, project, or initiative that promotes GLBF’s mission to integrate Bulgarian citizens into the information society through the country’s public libraries.
The Public Institution Award is presented to an institution that, going above and beyond its statutory obligations, has improved conditions for citizens’ free and equal access to information, culture, knowledge and services through its support for public libraries.
