Summary:
Introducing e-services in libraries to improve access to justice for Bulgarian citizens.
The Foundation “Global Libraries – Bulgaria” begins the implementation of the project “Legal Information in Public Libraries”, funded by the US Embassy in Bulgaria
The project will pilot a new e-service in libraries, thereby increasing their capacity as information and education centers in the local community.
It will be implemented in partnership with the student legal clinic at the Faculty of Law of the UNSS.
The activities are aimed at improving access to justice for Bulgarian citizens by increasing their legal culture and literacy.
For this purpose, a system for online requests and inquiries will be built. Through it, citizens will be able to receive free answers to their questions from students in the legal clinic. They will be legally oriented on how to solve their cases – independently, through a lawyer’s service or through free legal aid in the relevant order.
The project was implemented with the cooperation of the Regional Libraries in Blagoevgrad, Kyustendil, Vratsa and Vidin, the municipal library in the town of Samokov and the community library in the town of Botevgrad.
The period of implementation of the pilot activities is February 1, 2017 – May 30, 2017.
