The project “Knowledge, skills and innovations to increase the quality of non-formal education in public libraries” of the Foundation “Global Libraries – Bulgaria” (FGBB) is financed by the Erasmus + Program.
The project is an important step towards achieving the long-term strategic goals of FGBB – a change in the principles of management and functioning of public libraries in Bulgaria by increasing the qualifications of library employees and introducing new services that meet the needs of local communities.

The project will be implemented in the period from August 1, 2018 to July 31, 2019 in partnership with a consortium of nine regional libraries from the cities of Blagoevgrad, Vidin, Kardzhali, Kyustendil, Montana, Razgrad, Silistra, Targovishte and Yambol. The foreign partner is the Regional Library in the city of Utrecht, the Netherlands.

The participation of library managers and specialists in two training programs in the Netherlands on the topics “Reinventing library services and cooperation with partners” and “Library profiling – needs assessment and community involvement” is planned. After the end of the mobility, steps will be taken to integrate the competences and experience gained within the project in the future development of each member of the consortium.

In the final phase of the project, libraries will also take the initiative to update their strategic plans in terms of governance, partnerships, innovation, branding and public relations.
