Between June 9 and 13, two 10th grade students from the “Victor Hugo” French Lycée, completed an internship at GLBF. It was an inspiring and useful opportunity for our team to share our experience with Adrian and Dimitar, as well as to find out what young people think about our work and libraries. We wish them every success in their upcoming baccalaureate!
Here is what they shared from their one-week experience:
For the last two weeks we had to choose where to go for practical work as part of our school programme. We came to Global Libraries for one week and we couldn’t be happier!
They were very welcoming and kind, helping us learn a lot of new and useful things. Over the course of five days we gained an idea of how things work at an NGO and how much work and effort staff put in. During this time we also got to know more about libraries and, most importantly, how important they are for the preservation and development of our culture. This was mostly influenced by the opportunity they gave us to spend time at the National Library, for which we thank them very much!!!!They asked us to share our ideas for the ideal library.
In our opinion, it should have:☑️ Exhibitions / events so that there is variety every time you visit it.
☑️ Large rooms with tables and sofas where you can rest and work without having to sit in complete silence.
☑️ Good ventilation.
☑️ The library itself should be more open (not shelves within shelves) and have a feeling of more space overall.
☑️ Computers that everyone can use for research.
☑️ A place for culture: rich historical and culturally significant.
☑️ Publications should be translated into different languages so that more people can benefit.
☑️ Books should be able to be taken out / ordered.
